Birthdays are different for everyone and whether you celebrate or not, it’s a great time to look to the future in anticipation of the year ahead but it’s also a great time to reflect on the years and milestones behind you that have brought you to this point.
We’ve been through a lot over the years – celebrated many successes, experienced setbacks and have grown in unexpected ways. We’re proud of where we’ve come from and proud of where we are at the present. In honour of our 9th birthday we thought we’d share a bit of what we’ve learned over the years.
Mistakes happen
You learn much more from your mistakes than you do from your successes. Often surprising, mistakes have a way of helping you grow. You must take the good with the bad and be flexible and willing to roll with what life throws your way.
Work with family
There is a support system like no other when it comes to working with family members. Proud to say that this company is like a family and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Work with people who you respect and who respect you.
Balance
Live to work and don’t work to live. It’s important to find the balance when starting a business when you have a young family. Family needs you just like the business does; be sure to give time to your kids, husband, wife and your relationship.
Rewards
It’s hugely rewarding to assist people in finding a new role, career and ultimately life. A successful placement is gratifying and the impact it has on the person and the people around them is rewarding.
Bigger isn’t Better
Listen to your intuition and be true to yourself. Advisors give advice and because it’s advice you can take it at face value. Gain all the information you can from different sources and make up your own mind. Be content with where you are in your business – we are.
Stay Active
Going to the gym before or after a long day is a great way to keep your mind healthy.
Finances need quiet time
Being in control of finance requires peace and quiet. If we could advise company heads on any one thing, it would be to provide their finance staff somewhere away from the craziness of an office so that they can concentrate. Mistakes are easily made when distracted and you can’t afford to do that when in control of the money!
Updates and feedback
Always stay in touch with candidates and clients throughout the process. Appointments and feedback are part of the everyday but it’s important to just generally keep in touch. When you genuinely love the people you work with day in and day out it doesn’t seem like work. We’ve had some great feedback about how we are flying high in this area from our candidates and clients overseas and are proud of it.
The recruitment world is a very different place than it was nine years ago. If we knew then what we know now, it goes without saying we’d be in a very different place. The thing that hasn’t changed though is the undeniable fact that this business is about people and without the great people we work with we wouldn’t have a business. So here’s to you and here’s to us – Cheers to the year ahead!
