Account Manager Shopper- Alcohol/Tobacco


An ambitious Account Manager with Shopper and Alcohol and/or Tobacco experience is needed for the shopper arm of this large communications groupe which count the brightest and best creative and strategic thinkers in the industry.

The company has won numerous marketing awards around the world and been heralded as a "pioneer on the frontier of marketing" for its ability to engage consumers through new media.

Their key clients are global brands in the FMCG, Drinks, Telcos and Tobacco industry.

The role:

As an Account Manager on two very famous Alcohol & Tobacco brands, you will get to work on some of the most exciting clients in the agency. From developing new campaigns to developing new ways of thinking about Shopper Marketing in heavily regulated markets, the role is both varied and exciting.

The agency is the lead BTL/Shopper agency for these clients and is involved at both a strategic and tactical level with both brand and customer marketing teams. They deliver best in-class solutions that help their business win in both the on and off trade.

They work both as part of 'all-agency' groups - often taking a creative lead from ATL - and as lead agency on various projects across the portfolio of brands.

On their tobacco brand, they deliver a high volume of design work, as well as brand content. This is as varied from designing retailer specific POS, to videos regarding recent legislation - and everything in between.

They have a team of about 3 account handlers and a planner, all of whom are bright, fun, dedicated and highly supportive of each other. You will be expected to lead by example, driving forward and manage projects, and contribute to the positive team spirit across project teams.

With such a range of projects, high levels of responsibility and regular access to clients, this position will provide an excellent growth opportunity for the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities:

  • Sharing industry and category knowledge with the broader team.
  • Managing client projects so that they run smoothly and flawlessly
  • Overseeing the development of budgets and timely billing of costs and fees
  • Contributing to the revenue forecast
  • Developing strong agency relationships
  • Working collaboratively with other roster agencies
  • Timely responding to asset requests from external agencies and partners.
  • Building trust with clients through open and honest relationships.

Sector experience:

  • Previous agency account handling experience within a BTL/shopper focused agency
  • Clear experience of working in the alcohol and/or tobacco sector(s)

Key competencies:

The successful candidate will be a well-rounded Account Manager who has a pedigree in brand activation and shopper marketing specifically within the drinks or tobacco industry. They will have been an AM for 1 year+ and will be comfortable working across a variety of channels from Experiential to Shopper and have both on and off trade knowledge, or a demonstrable interest in the industry.

They will be expected to work collaboratively with the wider team to drive the BTL agenda with mid to senior level clients and be a champion for innovation and hungry to grow the account. The focus of the role will be across both alcohol and tobacco products.

They need to be proactive, able to drive projects forward and make things happen. They need to feel confident working in a fast-paced environment and being genuinely keen to learn new and varied skillsets, while sharing their own learning and expertise.
